Racing

While social rides and trips take up a large amount of our time, EUCC are also passionate about racing.

Ranked #7 in BUCS Cycling 2016-17
Part of the success which made Edinburgh University 3rd in BUCS 2016-17

The BUCS Cycling League contains races of all disciplines against riders from universities all over Britain. EUCC consistently have one of the biggest presences at the races while also performing to the highest standards. We’re hoping for bigger and better this coming year, and you could help us acheive our goal.

BUCS events in which we compete:

  • Downhill Mountain Bike
  • Track
  • Hillclimb
  • Road Time Trials and Races

Other Competitions

Many of us take part in other events throughout the year that are Scottish or National Level at various disciplines. It’s common for groups from the club to travel together or share accommodation in order to take part in an event away from home.  Recently the Scottish Enduro Series (MTB) has become popular for members to organise a group trip to these events. Stirling’s Crit on the Campus is popular among our Road cyclists and appearances at Track League at the Glasgow Velodrome for EUCC has become a more regular activity.

We have a great rivalry with Heriot Watt University, and hold a varsity event every year. For the last 2 years we’ve managed to fend off strong challenges to take the win.

Needless to say the competitions aren’t always about winning. These events are great social gatherings that are more often than not a good excuse to spend the weekend riding your bike with friends!
